Better Ballers Tournament & Training (a.k.a. Better Ballers) was formed with two main purposes; to create competitive, 1st class, reasonably priced, and professionally run tournaments and to develop young athletes through personal, individual training. The company was officially formed in June of 2005. Our philosophy is to work with programs in our community to development athletes academically as well as athletically. In this endeavor, we have developed relationships with many community leaders and programs such as Atlanta Elite Youth Association, DeKalb Dynasty, StudentAthlete.com, and several DeKalb and Gwinnett County schools.

John J. Swinton: President

John J. Swinton, owner of the Better Ballers, has been involved in athletics since he was 5 years old. He was an All-City high school basketball player in the San Fernando Valley, California. He was headed for the University of Louisville to play basketball when kidney failure derailed that plan. He did play at LA Valley Jr. College.

John began coaching in 1982, he coached 11 year old basketball in the San Fernando Valley. He coached adults from 1983 - 1990. John switched back to coaching youth in 1999 and has been involved in youth athletic development every since. In 2004 he co-founded the Atlanta Ballers Youth Association, Inc and is currently president of the newly formed Atlanta Elite Youth Association. He coached undefeated teams in the 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 seasons. His AAU team was number 3 in the state in 2004, number 2 in 2005, and number 2 in 2006. In 2007 his team was #1 in the state in USSSA and #3 in YBOA.

He also has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and a Masters in Business Administrationis. In addition he is president of JVC and Associates, Inc., a computer consulting company.
